The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a system that allows us to evaluate your movement abilities. Using the FMS and a number of other tests, we assess your balance, stability, movement, strength and endurance, and identify any imbalances, weaknesses, asymmetries and movement restrictions in your body.
The FMS can benefit you if: you’re looking for a tailored exercise program to improve your movement, performance and overall wellbeing; you’re suffering from overuse injuries or recurrent strains and sprains; you play a specific sport and want to improve your performance and movement. Not recommended for individuals with acute pain.
After taking a short case history to determine your current lifestyle and musculoskeletal health, we’ll ask you to identify some fitness goals. We may also conduct some orthopaedic tests to ensure your safety during the FMS. We’ll then take you through a series of simple tests to assess your balance, stability and mobility. Finally, we’ll create an exercise program to meet your needs.
