Tongue and Pulse Diagnosis:
An essential diagnostic tool in Chinese Medicine, together they paint an effective picture of what is happening within the body.
The pulse has over 29 different pulse types. The diagnosis of the tongue is based on its appearance, colour, shape and texture.
By incorporating both systems it allows the practitioner to better understand the individual’s overall health.
Ear Seeds - Auricular therapy:
Originally all ear seeds came from the Vaccaria plant. The vaccaria plant is native to Eurasia and is also known as the prairie carnation. Today the vaccaria seed is still being used as well as metal-based beads.
In Chinese Medicine, the ear is seen as a microsystem of the whole body. There are points on the ears that can be stimulated and used for healing, this is auricular therapy.
Auricular therapy is a preferred treatment for children, the elderly and people that are sensitive to needles. Ear seeds are often used to extend the results of acupuncture treatment or when traveling.
Evidence on auricular therapy supports its efficacy for pain relief, anxiety, obesity, and in improving sleep quality.
Gua sha means to scrape away illness. It’s been used for thousands of years, and its main aim is to move Qi and blood.
It is often used for muscular-skeletal pain, on the shoulders, neck, and where there is an aching or knotty feeling. Traditionally it’s been used for the prevention and ease of cold and flu-like symptoms.
Gua Sha recent rise to fame has been more focused on the benefits it has on the face. Facial techniques create small micro-traumas which allows for more collagen and elastin production. It can help with tissue elasticity and helps the muscle maintains its optimal function.

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient therapeutic technique which has been proved to have promising analgesic effect on chronic pain disorders. Yvette uses acupuncture to help reduce pain and inflammation, and to help stimulate the circulation which helps to enhance healing of the injured area. This helps trigger the body’s own healing and recovery. Fine acupuncture needles are placed on certain areas of the body. Depending on the individual’s concern, cupping may be used as well as Moxa, Electro acupuncture, massage, and dietary and herbal advice to help obtain the best results. Electro-Acupuncture is an important form of acupuncture where a small electric current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. It is effective in chronic pain conditions such as knee osteoarthritis, neck and low back pain.
What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Cosmetic Acupuncture works by stimulating the skin's dermis and underlying muscles, resulting in increased elastin and collagen production. It gives the skin a glowing and more youthful look with no down time. After an individual diagnosis, massage and Gua Sha is used to relax and invigorate the facial muscles. Fine acupuncture needles are inserted into strategic points on the face to help diminish fine lines, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, increase collagen production and improve the texture of the skin. LED lights are also used during the treatment to help further enhance the energy production in the cells of the skin.
